Cultivation & harvest
Pears prefer dry, warm growing areas with low humidity. For optimal growth, sufficiently moist, nutrient-rich soil is granted.
Use
Generally pears are low in acidity, which makes them ideal for eating raw. Yet they can also be used for baking as well as in fruit salads, compotes and other desserts. What’s more, pears can also add an interesting note to stews. For example, there are recipes that include pears, beans and bacon traditionally spiced with cinnamon, cloves and ginger.
Storage
Pears quickly become overripe and are not suitable for long storage. Stored in a cool place, pears should be eaten within five days.
