Cultivation & harvest

In cultivation, lamb’s lettuce does not require complicated soil conditions. Only a sunny location and calcareous soil winter lettuce prefers for growth.

Use

In addition to the classic preparation as a salad, lamb’s lettuce can also be optimally processed into pesto, dressings or soups. The slightly nutty flavor distinguishes the winter salad. For this reason, the combination with nuts, mushrooms, meat or fish completes the aromatic taste. In addition, the lamb’s lettuce can also be combined with fruity flavors, such as pears or oranges.

Storage

In the best case, the lamb’s lettuce is consumed immediately after purchase, as the tender leaves easily become mushy.
If the winter lettuce is not used directly, it should be stored as cool as possible and never packed airtight. Our tip: Wrapped in a damp cloth, lamb’s lettuce can be stored in the refrigerator for between two and three days.
